SIVANANDA

A practice of harmonization

Sivananda Yoga is based on the philosophy of Indian Physician Swami Sivananda, founder of the first ashram (hermitage) in Rishikesh, India in 1932 whose message was brought to the West by his disciple Swami Vishudevananda. Sivananda Yoga is based on 5 fundamental principles: correct exercise (asana); proper breathing (pranayama), proper relaxation (Savasana), a correct (vegetarian) diet, and a positive thought (Vedanta) combined with meditation (dhyana).

This is a practice where exercises (asanas), breathing and meditation are combined in a fixed sequence to benefit on both physical and energetic levels.
