WORKSHOP KATONAH YOGA
With Marco Migliavacca e Alessandra Tisato
SATURDAY 20 NOVEMBER 2021
Morning 10:00-12:30 Afternoon 13:30-16:00
The method:
Katonah Yoga® is a syncretic hatha yoga practice developed over the last 40 years by Nevine Michaan. Nevine and the Katonah teachers incorporate classical hatha yoga with Taoism, geometry, metaphors and imagination in a practical context designed to define and refine yoga techniques and enhance individual and collective well-being.
Space and time, the coordinates in which we move, are organised into maps within which asanas are understood as origami for the body. By manipulating the form so that it is always functional and developing a sense of personal proportion and measure through repetition, this practice reminds us that yoga is first and foremost about personal responsibility.
Katonah yoga is organised around three fundamental principles that we will explore together with the sequences during this introductory workshop.
Workshop title:
Form is function
introduction to Katonah Yoga®
Workshop description:
This two-session workshop, designed for practitioners of all disciplines and teachers, will enable you to get to know the basic principles of this method, to practice while learning to develop a sense of your proportions and measurements. To discover how by manipulating your form you can ‘function’ better and use asana and pranayama to help the organs that are most exposed in this season.
