Our Yoga practice can walk two paths, one of ritual or one of routine. This practice intensive is designed to bring your asana back to life. The Awakening Yoga practice is built on the foundation of ritual asana with a focus on functional movement and individualized alignment. By acknowledging that each body is unique, powerful, and purposeful, this practice provides room for students to better understand their own physicality.
We all have a certain level of coordination, strength, flexibility, balance, and natural predisposition that serve as tools in our movement toolboxes. To become more aware, we must immerse ourselves in the practice, moving ourselves away from outward aesthetics and into self observation.
Through the course of this four day learning experience you will become fully versed in the Awakening Yoga movement system, introduced to the practice methodology, and discover new awareness of yourself along the way. Join in on this inspiring yoga journey, break your habits, explore new possibilities, and flourish with us!
This is less specifically “teacher” focused and aimed at any practitioner who is looking to learn about the Awakening Yoga practice style in depth. We cover the philosophical roots, biomechanics, movement patterns, and bio individuality approach of Awakening Yoga to adapt to a wide range of practitioner.
Patrick Beach teaches Awakening Yoga, a vigorous and fluid vinyasa yoga practice that builds strength, creates flexibility and inspires play. Patrick’s teaching goes beyond intelligent alignment; moving any willing student to an introspective, holistic experience. Patrick is based in Seattle, where he co-owns Commune Yoga and travels the world leading classes, workshops, and teacher training programs.
Carling Harps is known for her lighthearted attention to detail and commitment to the growth of her students. As a balance to her regular classes, Carling is trained as a Doula and also specializes in prenatal yoga. She has been featured in and contributed writing to publications such as Yoga International, Mantra Magazine, and Yoga Digest. In 2019, she and Patrick Beach opened Commune Yoga studio in Seattle.
